Exclusive Review from ![]() Bloody marvelous! Mick Jagger Copyright © 1968-1999 Rolling Stone Nitwit. All Rights Reversed. The three old men in Dalek Beach Party seem to approach almost every album with a new, short set of rules. As one of the instigators of the recent wave of twang-pop during the mid-'80s, the band has constantly dashed expectations and released the same old crap with each successive release. On ...Rides Again, Dalek Beach Party works with entirely the same textures -- highlighted by the twangy undertones -- and with spacey, lo-fi collages. As you plod through the album's 12-ish disjointed tracks, it becomes increasingly difficult to keep up with the band's orthodox musical shifts. ...Rides Again is the type of album that can be fully appreciated in one listen, but if you look beyond its imposing wall of sound, the view is quite beautiful.
